Blue Beach

This picture was inspired by Raoul Dufy's painting on a similar theme. But here I've used a pair of thongs and a colourful towel to throw some interest into the picture

Off the Deck

This is off our family deck. I liked the intensity of the light and the flattened perspective. This is one of my favourite pictures because  a lot of the things in this painting are real, even if the colours are not right, the emotional connection and atmosphere is just right.

Yellow Chair

I based this composition on a postcard I once saw. The only similarity is the idea of using a carpet behind a chair and using pattern as a texture. With flattened perspective, you can use a lot more decoration in the foreground. Theres probably too much red in this picture, but I don't mind it...

Adirondack Chair

I wanted to paint this chair in Orange and Mauve, but did'nt really have a composition in mind. I tore a picture of this boat out of a magazine and used it in the painting. The boat probably makes this painting look a bit too pretentious, but without something there, it would look a little boring.

Noosa Main Beach

This is a big picture, about 6 feet by 4 feet. I wanted a very loose painting almost sketchy with very little paint. But I'm too sure if it works. It's painted on plywood so in parts the paint runs down quite freely. Views painted through windows always maintain a lot of visual interest. That white shape in the water is meant to be a sail, not a shark!
